Why Dhigurah

Dhigurah is a long, narrow local island in South Ari (Alif Dhaalu) Atoll. It sits next to the South Ari Marine Protected Area, one of the few places in the world where you can see whale sharks year-round. There's also a long sandbank at its southern tip.

Whale shark trips

Whale sharks are wild animals, so sightings are never guaranteed. Choose operators who follow the code of conduct: no touching, keep your distance, and limit the number of swimmers per shark.

Where to stay

Dhigurah is quieter than Maafushi and has fewer restaurants, so many guests book half or full board.
